Seattle Trim Work Installation: Enhance Your Home’s Beauty & Value
Have you ever walked into a room and been instantly struck by its elegance and charm? Often, it’s the finer details that create that feeling. Trim work, the finishing touches that frame doorways, windows, baseboards, and more, plays a crucial role in elevating a space from ordinary to extraordinary.
More Than Just Decoration: The Benefits of Trim Work
Trim work isn’t just about aesthetics. It offers a multitude of benefits for Seattle homeowners:
- Enhanced Beauty: The right trim can add a touch of sophistication or a pop of personality to any room. Crown molding creates a sense of volume, chair rails add a touch of class, and baseboards provide a clean line between wall and floor.
- Improved Functionality: Trim work can conceal imperfections, protect walls from everyday wear and tear, and even house electrical wiring or additional insulation.
- Increased Value: High-quality trim work is an investment that can significantly boost your home’s resale value.
Seattle Style: Popular Trim Work Trends
Seattle’s design aesthetic leans towards clean lines and natural elements. Here are some popular trim work trends in the area:
- Simple Elegance: Crisp moldings and baseboards in painted white or light wood tones create a timeless look.
- Craftsman Charm: For a touch of warmth, consider stained wood wainscoting or chair rails with simple profiles.
- Modern Minimalism: Minimal baseboards and concealed trim around windows and doors offer a sleek, contemporary aesthetic.

What Does Trim Work Cost in Seattle?
Pricing trim work depends on the scope, the profile, the wood species, and the site conditions. Here are the numbers from our actual projects:
Baseboard replacement: $8–$11 per linear foot, installed. This includes removal of existing base, supply and installation of new solid wood profile (we use WindsorOne — real wood, not MDF), and all site protection and clean-up. Minimum project: $2,500. Paint is always a separate scope.
Door and window casing: $200–$400 per opening for labor, plus materials depending on profile and species. Minimum project: $2,500. Stain-grade casing — where the finish is transparent and every joint is visible — requires hand-selected material and more precise installation, and is priced accordingly.
What moves the price: paint-grade vs. stain-grade (stain-grade costs more at every step), profile complexity and width, existing conditions (out-of-level floors and out-of-plumb jambs take more time to work with correctly), and pre-1978 homes requiring lead testing.
